Hello, and thank you to everyone who has been following my journey so far! š If we havenāt yet met, Iām Suzanne, the heart behind Suaimhneas Natural Health. I created this blog space to share my journey and passion for holistic health, merging traditional and modern practices to support wellness in body, mind, and spirit. I am honoured to welcome you here, whether youāre new to this community or have been with me for a while. Let me tell you a bit about myself, my path, and what brings me joy and purpose in this work.
Growing Up by the Sea and Finding My Path
I grew up along the coast of County Kerry, Irelandāa place where the land meets the sea and where I feel truly at home. My early connection to nature, coastal walks, and even winter sea swims (yes, your body does get used to the cold!) have always been grounding for me. These moments of stillness and immersion in nature are where I find presence and peace.
My journey in healthcare began in 2013 when I pursued training as a General Nurse, graduating in 2017. But my love for travel took me around Europe, exploring different cultures and ways of life. Returning to Ireland during the pandemic in 2020 was a reflective time for me. I began to consider the next steps in my healthcare path and felt drawn to something Iād always had a curiosity for: alternative and complementary medicine.
Embracing Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
My interest in alternative healing deepened through my nursing experiences, especially during placements in palliative care and mental health. Observing how therapies could support the bodyās healing without medications was both fascinating and inspiring. This led me to begin a three-year Diploma in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Dublin. I am continuously amazed by the insights this journey has offered, viewing health through a different, more holistic lens. TCM and Western medicine might come from different paradigms, but they complement each other in profound ways. Together, they enhance our understanding of the body and empower us to heal and nurture ourselves.
Sharing TCM and Acupuncture with the World
As I deepen my knowledge and passion for TCM, I also strive to share it with others who may be new to these ancient practices. Last year, I had the chance to support the Acupuncture Relief Project in Nepal for 12 weeks, where I volunteered to provide free primary medical care, including acupuncture, to rural communities. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the power of these practices in bringing relief to those in need.
The Yoga Journey: A Lifelong Dream Realised
Yoga has been another integral part of my life. Since my teenage years in rural Ireland, where yoga studios were few and far between, Iāve been drawn to the practice. At first, like many, I found it a physical outlet when feeling stressed, but over time by returning to my mat again and again it became a source of deep connection and inner peace. This journey led me to Goa, India, where I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga and Vinyasa. I now am passionate about bring yoga to others, teaching classes inspired by a mix of yoga philosophy and TCM principles, using breathwork (pranayama) and thoughtfully curated music playlists to help students connect mind, body, and spirit.
Looking Ahead with Heart and Purpose
This path has brought me to places I once only dreamed of, from studying Acupuncture to teaching yoga in India and, more recently, in Kerala and Sri Lanka. Iām now thrilled to bring this experience to Suaimhneas Natural Health, where I offer Vinyasa Yoga classes and holistic TCM treatments. My goal is to guide others on their wellness journey, blending yoga and acupuncture to create a balanced approach to health.
Thank you for being part of this journey, whether youāre here for acupuncture, yoga, or simply to learn. I look forward to sharing more insights, wellness tips, and practices with you all through this space. Hereās to a journey of healing, connection, and well-being!
With gratitude,
āØSuzanne š
